What we do

Dataventure provides 360° Business Intelligence services, from defining a clear BI strategy, to building automated data processes, integrating solutions into your infrastructure, and enabling teams to work with BI confidently and effectively. A strong focus on data quality and governance ensures insights are trusted and reliable.

Our engagements are predominantly project-based, lasting until Business Intelligence is not only delivered, but embedded, trusted, and used.

Problems we solve

Business Intelligence initiatives rarely fail because of missing tools. They fail because strategy, data, and people are not aligned. We typically support organisations facing one or more of the following challenges:

When direction and trust are missing

  • No clear BI strategy or roadmap
  • KPIs are defined differently across teams
  • Silo mindset as teams create their own reports
  • Data ownership and accountability are unclear
  • Business discussions focus more on numbers than on decisions

When data and technology don’t scale

  • Reporting relies heavily on manual Excel work
  • Data pipelines are fragile, slow, or undocumented
  • BI performance degrades as complexity increases
  • Dashboards contradict each other

When BI exists but isn’t used

  • BI adoption remains limited to a small expert group
  • Users don’t feel confident working with data
  • Insights are rarely embedded in daily decision-making
  • Organisations remain dependent on external support

These challenges are closely connected. Addressing only one rarely leads to sustainable improvements.

BI transformation Swiss market leader · CHF 500m+ turnover

Challenge: Lack of a modern, integrated BI setup. Broad creation of manual reports within departments. Limited alignment on KPIs. Cross-functional decision-making difficult.

Solution: Designed and deployed a full end-to-end BI stack covering all core business functions, with each report designed in alignment with stakeholders.

Impact:

  • 50+ interactive reports across all functions
  • 170 active users with 10,000+ accesses per month
  • BI rated as very successful by users
  • Consultant ranked highest-rated survey item (4.7/5.0)
Planogram optimisation Global retail · 5,000+ POS

Challenge: A new category management strategy fundamentally changed product selection, pricing, and conditions. Bringing POS optimisation and category management together at scale seemed impossible.

Solution: Designed a customised BI solution integrating POS configuration, product information, sales performance, category principles, pricing and conditions, with automated processes and visual cues for fast, consistent decisions.

Impact:

  • <15 minutes to analyse and optimise a POS, including a technician document
  • POS aligned with new category management guidelines, clear brand/segment blocks, consistent pricing and conditions
  • Reduced out-of-stocks and increased restocking efficiency
  • Recognised as #1 global POS optimisation initiative of the year (executive management board)
The Ultimate Operational Dashboard Global organisation · CHF 1bn turnover

Challenge: Performance measurement for a large international field organisation was unreliable due to fragmented data sources, inconsistent identifiers, and low trust in KPI calculations—impacting operational decisions and bonus schemes.

Solution: Consolidated and harmonised data across systems, defined consistent KPI logic, and involved middle management early to ensure alignment and trust.

Impact:

  • Custom BI dashboard with 20+ pages
  • Full adoption across field staff, middle and top management
  • Weekly updates requiring <1 hour of effort
  • Solution extended and considered best-in-class internationally for its purpose
